TPE Test Methods

Graus R&D Laboratory TPE Test/Analysis Methods

Tensile strength and elongation test.

-Test standard: ASTM D412
-Purpose: Determines elastic and plastic behavior of thermoplastic elastomers under static load.

Melt flow testing (MFI)

-Test standard: ASTM 1238
-Purpose: The melt current index of a melted thermoplastic elastomer is measured.
-Tester : MFI device.

Rack measurement

-Purpose: For thermoplastic elastomers, lightness and darkness value, 1 value, red-green values-a value and yellow-blue value-b value are measured

Permanent deformation test

-Test standard: ASTM D395- method B
-Purpose: The ability of thermoplastic elastomers to inhibit the elastic properties of the material is measured after a force is applied to the material at different times and temperatures. Permanent deformation is measured after some pressure is applied at a known temperature and time.
-Tester: Compression set apparatus.

Density measurement

-Test standard: ASTM D792
-Purpose: The specific gravity of thermoplastic elastomers and other polymers in solid form is calculated with the help of alcohol.
-Tester: Analytical balance and density kit

Hardness test

-Test standard: ASTM 2240
-Purpose: The hardness of thermoplastic elastomers is determined in shore A and shore D units.
-Tester: Shore Meter (A&D)

Hardness test

-Test standard: ASTM 2240
-Purpose: The hardness of thermoplastic elastomers is determined in shore A and shore D units.
-Tester: Shore Meter (A&D)

Tear test

-Test standard: ASTM D624
-Purpose: The tear resistance of thermoplastic elastomers is measured.
-Test Cihazı: Ekstansometre
